This ads fallacy is appeal to authority. They use Ellen as there spokes person to represent this product, knowing that people will think that if she uses it then it must work. Ellen sticks out in this picture because the background is white, while Ellen is wearing black. The cover girl words that are in the white background are black, while the white words are on the black clothing to stand out. They also have an small picture of the product in the right hand corner so when you flip through the pages of a magazine you see it and are instantly intrigued by the beauty of the product. They also put a lot of writing down at the bottom pretty much bashing the competition for the first sentence and then saying everything good about their product which makes us think more highly of them.

  1. Why Ellen? Why this product? What connection exists between the image and the company?
